The Nationalist Citizens` Platform (NCP) has issued show-cause notices to five of its senior leaders for traveling to Cox’s Bazar on August 5 — the first anniversary of the July uprising — a day the party considers nationally significant.
The move came after internal criticism over the leaders` absence on such a politically important date.
The notices, signed by NCP’s Office Secretary and Joint Member Secretary Saleh Uddin Sifat, were sent to Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari, South Region Chief Organizer Hasnat Abdullah, North Region Chief Organizer Sarjis Alam, Senior Joint Member Secretary Tasnim Zarah, and Joint Convener Khaled Saifullah. According to the notices, the five leaders undertook the trip as a personal excursion and failed to inform or seek approval from the party’s Political Council in advance.
NCP leadership expressed concern over what they described as a serious lapse in responsibility.
The notices stated that the leaders’ absence on such a historically and politically symbolic day raises questions about their commitment to the party’s core principles.
Each of the five leaders has been asked to appear in person before Convenor Md Nahid Islam and Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain within 24 hours to submit a written explanation regarding the reasons and circumstances behind the trip.
