Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in Dhaka performed a cadaveric kidney transplant successfully on Thursday, reports BSS citing a press release.
Bangladesh has initiated its second cadaveric kidney transplant from a brain-dead person to two kidney patients.
Two individuals with kidney ailments underwent transplant surgeries using organs from a 38-year-old brain-dead donor, marking the second such procedure in the country`s medical history.
The hour-long life-saving surgeries were conducted at the BSMMU and the National Kidney Foundation in the capital on Thursday night.
