At least 13 people lost their lives and 92 others were injured on Saturday due to severe weather conditions, including heavy rain and strong winds, across Pakistan’s central-eastern Punjab province.

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), most of the fatalities occurred as a result of collapsing old and unsafe structures in various areas, The Dawn reports.

Local media reported that over 10 people died after being trapped under such buildings.

In another incident, a factory roof collapsed due to high winds, killing one worker and seriously injuring five others, as reported by state-run Pakistan Television.

Additionally, one person was killed by a lightning strike during the storm.

The extreme weather also caused widespread damage to mud and dilapidated houses throughout the province.

The PDMA had earlier issued warnings on Friday, alerting residents to the risk of strong winds, dust storms, and rainfall in several parts of Punjab.
