US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has warned that Iran would face unprecedented retaliation if it attempts to disrupt oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking at a press conference, Hegseth said Iran would be “hit harder than ever” if it takes any action to block the flow of oil through the strategic waterway, a critical route for global energy supplies.
He also referred to Monday’s phone call between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying it was clearly conveyed during the conversation that Russia should not become involved in the ongoing conflict with Iran.
The warning comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East and growing concerns over the security of global oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.
