Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has urged Muslim countries to unite against what he described as their “real enemy”, accusing the United States and Israel of exploiting differences among Islamic nations to weaken and dominate them.
In a written statement, Khamenei called on Muslim leaders to recognise what he said were attempts to turn racial, cultural, political, economic and geographical differences into sources of division within the Islamic world.
He said fragmentation among Muslim nations had weakened their collective strength and created opportunities for outside powers to impose their influence.
Khamenei questioned whether the Palestinian people would remain vulnerable to what he called the “oppression and crimes of occupiers” if Muslims acted together. He also argued that greater unity among Persian Gulf countries would make it harder for outside powers to seek control over their territory and resources.
The Iranian leader called on heads of Muslim-majority states to understand the plans of their adversaries and take steps to counter them.
He identified the United States and Israel as opponents of Muslim unity, saying their hostility extended beyond Iran and its allies to the wider Muslim community across West Asia and North Africa.
Khamenei’s remarks come amid continuing tensions between Iran, Israel and the United States, with Tehran repeatedly calling for greater unity among Muslim countries in response to regional conflicts.
