Following mounting pressure from students at Jagannath University, accused classmate Amman Siddiqui and assistant proctor Din Islam have been placed under police custody in connection with the tragic suicide of Fairuz Sadaf Obonantika. Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Habibur Rahman confirmed this development.

The arrests came in response to a 24-hour ultimatum issued by students demanding the apprehension of Siddiqui and Islam following Obontika‍‍`s suicide. The aggrieved students had been protesting on campus, demanding justice for their fellow student.

Siddiqui and Islam were detained for interrogation the day after Avantika‍‍`s untimely death. The ongoing investigations seek to shed light on the circumstances leading up to the tragic incident.

In response to the students‍‍` demands, organizers warned of further action, threatening to rally outside the vice chancellor‍‍`s office on Monday if their calls for justice were not heeded.

Fairuz Sadaf Obontika, the daughter of the late Professor Jamal Uddin, a former educator at Comilla Government College, tragically took her own life by hanging herself from a fan on the second floor of PC Park Samarnika, Bagichagaon, Comilla city, around 10 o‍‍`clock on Friday night.

Prior to her demise, Avantika posted on her Facebook account, pointing to her classmate Amman Siddiqui as a contributing factor to her decision. Additionally, she held Assistant Proctor Din Islam responsible for the distressing circumstances leading to her suicide.
