A young woman in Joypurhat’s Panchbibi upazila has filed a case against three individuals, accusing them of repeatedly raping her by blackmailing her with a secretly recorded video.

The complaint, lodged at Panchbibi Police Station on Friday night, alleges that the perpetrators threatened to circulate the video online if she spoke out.

According to the case statement, the incident began about two months ago when the woman, who knew one of the accused, Salma Begum, was invited to her house for a chat.

Salma allegedly offered her spiced puffed rice (jhalmuri) laced with sedatives, after which the woman lost consciousness.

During that time, Ataur Rahman, identified as a drug dealer, allegedly raped her and secretly recorded the act on his phone.

The woman claimed that Ataur later threatened to release the video online and also threatened to kill her father if she told anyone.

Using these threats, he and his accomplices allegedly raped her multiple times. She said she remained silent out of fear and shame.

In her complaint, the survivor also accused Salma Begum and her husband Nayan Hossain of aiding Ataur in the repeated assaults.

She said, “They blackmailed and raped me multiple times. Salma Begum and her husband were involved in this. I want justice for everyone involved.”

Panchbibi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mainul Islam confirmed the case and said that while Salma Begum has been arrested, efforts are underway to apprehend the two other suspects, Ataur Rahman and Nayan Hossain.
