The Constitutional Amendment Committee is set to hold its first meeting on Tuesday at the Cabinet Room of the National Parliament Building. The meeting is scheduled to begin shortly and will be chaired by the committee`s chairman and Home Affairs Adviser, Salahuddin Ahmed.
The committee`s inaugural meeting is being held with its 12 members, as the opposition has declined to join the body.
No final decisions have yet been made on the future of the key constitutional reform proposals included in the July National Charter, the committee`s working procedures, or the timeline for submitting its report. The committee is expected to outline its work plan during today`s meeting.
On July 13, the National Parliament formed the 12-member special committee, appointing Home Affairs Adviser Salahuddin Ahmed as its chairman to oversee the constitutional amendment process.
