The interim government has decided to remove all deputy commissioners (DCs) across the country.
They will be removed by Tuesday and new appointments will be made.
Sources indicate that the assistance of five officials who were overlooked during the previous government will be sought for the DC appointments, reports Dhaka Tribune.
These officials are Nurjahan Khanam and Nazrul Islam from the 24th BCS batch, Nurul Karim Bhuiyan and Farida Khanam from the 25th batch, and Sarwar Alam from the 27th batch.
It has also been reported that many DCs have expressed reluctance to perform their duties in the current situation.
They have already spoken with senior officials about being withdrawn from field administration. Consequently, the decision has been made to remove all DCs.
