Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon the party leaders and activists to prepare accordingly, stating that the upcoming 12th National Assembly elections will be challenging due to various plots and conspiracies.
Sheikh Hasina said this during an exchange of views with leaders and activists of various levels of Awami League and its affiliated organizations at her official residence, Ganabhaban today.
Criticizing the BNP, the Awami League president said, “It is the practice of the BNP to rig the elections. They have record of stealing votes. They have their record of taking away democracy. But, now we are hearing about democracy from BNP"
Referring to the issue of more than one crore fake voters during the rule of BNP, Sheikh Hasina said, "Even in the 2001 election, there was no less rigging. In 1996, Khaleda Zia was expelled by the people of Bangladesh for the crime of stealing votes. Again in 2006 elections, 1 crore 23 crore fake voters were used to steal votes."
Meanwhile, the head of government said to the party leaders, “Our organization is strong enough. It should be stronger. Measures should be taken in that direction.”
She also said, "The speech of March 7 has gained international status. 21st February received international recognition of mother tongue."
Highlighting the development of the Awami League government, Sheikh Hasina said “In these 14 years, after coming to the government in 2008, because of the stable democratic environment resulting from this continuous power, the development of Bangladesh has become possible.”
Highlighting the attitude of foreigners towards the development of Bangladesh, the Prime Minister said, "When I go outside the country, everyone asks me about the development of Bangladesh. I say that I have strong organization. And our organization has strong principles. We have a goal, a plan. We have been able to bring success because of proper planning and development work with the people."
