Zunaid Ahmad Palak, the State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and ICT, stated on Wednesday that efforts are underway to fully restore broadband internet services nationwide by tonight.
He made this remarks during a press briefing held at the BTRC Bhaban, emphasizing the government`s commitment to achieving this goal.
Regarding the resumption of mobile internet services, Palak mentioned a scheduled meeting with the Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB) on Friday or Saturday, aiming to restore services by Sunday.
Addressing concerns about access to social media platforms like Facebook and TikTok, Palak mentioned upcoming meetings with respective authorities to discuss restoration measures.
Earlier in the day, the Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB) had indicated that 70-80% of broadband services could be restored by tonight. ISPAB President Emdadul Hoque expressed optimism that they were working towards fully restoring services, with significant progress already achieved.
Notably, broadband services were reinstated in some areas overnight, prioritizing essential services such as government institutions, banks, and utilities like gas and electricity.
