Shehbaz Sharif's appeal to Parliament to take action against Imran Khan

Shehbaz Sharif has appealed to Parliament to take action against Pakistan's former prime minister and main opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan. The current Prime Minister of Pakistan has not said anything about what kind of action he wants against Imran.

Making this appeal in a speech given in the Parliament on Tuesday, he said that whenever the police wants to arrest Imran Khan, his supporters engage in violence with the police to prevent it.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan said, "Have you ever seen if police goes to arrest someone on the basis of a court warrant and get petrol bombed?" I appeal to the Parliament, that such matters need to be taken into consideration now. If we want to save Pakistan, we need to take action from Parliament now."

Imran was leading the main opposition party after being ousted from the post of Prime Minister. He did not leave the field of politics even though he lost his seat. He was shot and injured in a meeting when he started an antigovernmental movement. The general public began to respond massively in his favor. In view of this, the government started trying to remove him from the leadership.

Earlier this month, police and military forces went to Imran's house to arrest him in execution of the court's order, but were returned empty-handed after heavy opposition from Imran's supporters who had already gathered there.
