Three United Nations peacekeepers were injured in an explosion in southern Lebanon, with officials confirming they are from Indonesia.

The blast took place inside a UN facility near El Adeisse on Friday afternoon, according to United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon. The injured peacekeepers were taken to hospital, with two reported to be in serious condition.

The United Nations Information Centre said the cause of the explosion remains unclear but confirmed the nationalities of those wounded.

The incident comes shortly after a series of deadly events involving Indonesian peacekeepers in the same region. Earlier, one peacekeeper was killed in a blast on March 29, while two others died the following day after an explosion hit a UN convoy.

A UN security source said the earlier incident may have involved fire from an Israeli tank, though this has not been officially confirmed.

The bodies of the three peacekeepers who died are expected to be returned to Jakarta on Saturday.

UNIFIL has called on all parties involved in the conflict, including Israel and Hezbollah, to ensure the safety of peacekeepers and avoid military activities near their positions.

Officials said the recent incidents highlight growing risks for peacekeepers operating in the area amid ongoing conflict.
