A mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping across several parts of Bangladesh, including Dhaka, and is likely to continue in the coming days, the Met office said on Saturday.
According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, the heat wave is affecting Rajshahi and Khulna divisions along with districts such as Faridpur, Gopalganj, Manikganj, Narayanganj, Rangamati, Chandpur, Barishal and Patuakhali.
The weather office also forecast rain or thundershowers in some areas of Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, with chances of gusty winds and lightning.
Elsewhere in the country, the weather is expected to remain mostly dry with partly cloudy skies.
Temperatures are likely to stay almost unchanged both during the day and night, the bulletin added.
The highest temperature recorded on Friday was 39.7 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga.
Meteorologists said a low-pressure trough over West Bengal and nearby areas, along with seasonal conditions over the Bay of Bengal, is influencing the current weather pattern.
