Popular actor Hasan Masood hospitalised after stroke and mild heart attack

Popular actor Hasan Masood has been hospitalised following an ischaemic stroke and a mild heart attack, doctors confirmed on Tuesday.

The actor, once a familiar face in popular television dramas and films, was admitted to Universal Medical College Hospital in Mohakhali, Dhaka, late Monday night after experiencing severe headaches and seizures.

“After preliminary tests, we found signs of an ischaemic stroke along with a mild heart attack,” said Dr Ashish Kumar Chakraborty, Managing Director of the hospital. “He is currently being treated under the supervision of our neurologist, cardiologist, and critical care specialists. Such cases usually require observation for 48 to 72 hours before deciding on further treatment.”

Hospital sources said Hasan Masood is currently receiving care at the hospital’s Stroke Unit.

A former army officer turned actor, Hasan Masood joined the Bangladesh Army in 1985 and retired as a captain in 1992. He later worked as a sports journalist, serving at BBC Bangla between 2004 and 2008.

In recent years, the once-celebrated actor had gradually stepped away from the entertainment industry. Earlier this month, he drew public attention for remarks about actress Hania Aamir and later announced that he had no plans to return to acting.

In one of his recent interviews before falling ill, Hasan Masood shared, “I’m currently looking for a job. Once I find one—whether in journalism or administration—I’ll take it. I want to disappear completely.
