Bangladesh recorded six more child deaths with symptoms consistent with measles in the 24 hours until 8:00 am on Wednesday, pushing the combined number of confirmed and suspected measles-related fatalities to 803, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest deaths have been classified as suspected measles fatalities pending laboratory confirmation.
DGHS data show that suspected measles deaths have now reached 708, while the number of laboratory-confirmed deaths remained unchanged at 95.
During the same reporting period, health authorities registered 904 new suspected measles cases, raising the nationwide total to 120,352.
Laboratory testing also confirmed 133 additional infections, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed measles cases to 14,841.
Since March 15, a total of 103,078 people with suspected measles have been admitted to hospitals across the country. Of them, 99,294 have recovered, according to the latest DGHS figures.
Health officials continue to monitor the outbreak as surveillance, treatment and vaccination efforts remain underway across the country.
