Social media influencers Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan Tate were arrested in Miami on Saturday after British authorities requested their extradition to face rape and human trafficking charges, US officials confirmed.

The US Marshals Service said the brothers, who hold dual British and American citizenship, were detained under a sealed arrest warrant.

They are expected to appear before a federal court in Miami early next week.

British prosecutors accuse the brothers of rape and human trafficking over alleged offences committed between 2010 and 2017 and are seeking to bring them back to the UK to stand trial.

The latest case centres on allegations involving women in an area north of London where the brothers grew up. Britain‍‍`s Crown Prosecution Service said prosecutors have added 38 new charges involving four additional alleged victims, alongside charges announced earlier this year involving three women.

Andrew Tate also faces an additional allegation of profiting from prostitution, as well as 19 further charges related to alleged indecent images of a child and extreme pornography, according to UK authorities.

The brothers moved to Romania in 2016 and were arrested there in 2022 in a separate investigation into alleged human trafficking and sexual exploitation.

That case has yet to proceed to trial because of legal and procedural disputes.

Both men have consistently denied all allegations against them.

Romanian authorities lifted travel restrictions last year, allowing the brothers to leave the country.

They later travelled to Florida aboard a private jet.

Their lawyer, Joseph McBride, criticised the latest British case, describing it as an attempt to undermine defamation lawsuits the brothers have filed in the United States.

Although he said he had not yet spoken with his clients following the arrests, he expressed confidence they would ultimately be cleared.

Andrew Tate first came to public attention in 2016 as a contestant on the British reality television programme Big Brother.

He was removed from the show after a video surfaced that appeared to show him assaulting a woman.

The brothers later built a large online following by promoting content centred on wealth, masculinity and controversial social commentary.

Andrew Tate has more than 10 million followers on X, although he has been banned from platforms including YouTube, TikTok and Instagram for violating policies on hate speech.

Bedfordshire Police Assistant Chief Constable Karena Thomas said authorities would continue to pursue allegations of violence against women and girls while ensuring support for victims.

The Tate brothers continue to deny all allegations in the UK and Romania.
