The Bangladesh national football team was scheduled to fly to Nepal this afternoon to play two friendly matches, but their flight has been delayed by several hours due to a technical issue.
The team was set to depart Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 1:30 pm on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight, which is now rescheduled to leave at 7:00 pm.
Having already cleared immigration, the players and officials are stranded inside the airport.
The Nepal Football Association had completed all preparations to welcome the squad at 3:30 pm local time, but uncertainty remains whether the team will wait for the rescheduled flight or seek an alternative arrangement.
Biman station manager Nazmul Imam confirmed the delay, citing a “technical problem” as the reason. “The flight has been rescheduled to 7:00 pm. Lunch arrangements have been made for the players and officials,” he added.
Team manager Amer Khan said, “We had already boarded and were waiting when we suddenly learned that the flight had developed a technical issue.”
Bangladesh will face Nepal on September 6 and 9 at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu. Earlier in the day, the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) announced.
