Bangladesh started the second day at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium with Liton Das and Shakib Al Hasan batting, however Liton Das was quick to return to the dressing room falling victim to Jomel Warrican.
Shakib started building partnership with Mehidy Hasan Miraz, but the Tigers were once again under pressure as Shakib played a loose ball. He was trying to cut the ball to get some extra bounce but could not keep the ball down and it was an easy catch for Kraigg Brathwaite.
Shakib reached his 25th Test half-century and added 67 to the team tally. Miraz was the one to anchor the innings, adding 44 more to the score with Taijul. After Taijul, Miraz paired up with Nayeem, who was taken out by Nkrumah Bonner for his only wicket. Miraz showed his class with frequent boundaries to reach the milestone off 168 balls from 13 boundaries.
The 23-year-old has got his first taste of a Test Century and his thrilling push of 103 runs helped Bangladesh to hit a satisfactory score line of 430. As it stands at the end of the day, the Tigers seem to be in control of the first test, thanks to Miraz’s dazzling batting.
The Caribbeans are having a hard time adjusting to the challenge as they are already down two wickets. Mushfiqur Rahim has taken out John Campbell and Sheyne Moseley early in the innings. West Indies struggled to find their groove in the earlier overs but they seem to have found their patience at the moment. As it stands at the end of day two.
