A court here today convicted and sentence Foysal Karim Masud, prime accused in the case lodged over the murder of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, to 10-year rigorous imprisonment in a case lodged under Arms Act.
Judge Mahmudul Mohsin of Dhaka Special Tribunal-26 pronounced the judgment in Foysal’s absence as he was tried in absentia.
According to the case statement, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-2 conducted a raid at a flat in Baitul Aman Housing Society in Adabar on November 7, 2024. During the operation, Foysal Karim was detained. A search of his residence led to the recovery of two foreign-made pistols along with five rounds of ammunition.
In connection with the incident, RAB havildar Md Moshiur Rahman filed the case under the Arms Act against Foysal Karim with Adabar Police Station the next day.
After completing the investigation, Sub-Inspector Zahid Hasan of Adabar Police Station submitted the charge sheet against the accused on March 28, 2025.
During the trial, 13 witnesses testified before the court.
