Dhaka ranked fourth among cities with the worst air quality on Tuesday morning, according to global air monitoring data.
The capital recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) score of 119 at around 10:38am, placing it in the “unhealthy for sensitive groups” category.
India’s Delhi topped the list with an AQI score of 183, followed by Kolkata and Kampala.
According to AQI standards, air quality between 101 and 150 is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups, while higher scores indicate more serious health risks.ki
The AQI measures pollution levels based on several harmful particles and gases, including PM2.5, PM10, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, sulphur dioxide and ozone.
