United States forces carried out strikes on missile sites and boats in southern Iran on Monday, raising new concerns over the future of the fragile ceasefire between the two countries.

US Central Command said the attacks targeted missile launch positions and boats allegedly attempting to place mines in Gulf waters.

Iranian state media reported loud explosions near Bandar Abbas late Monday night but said the situation in the port city remained under control.

The strikes came as Iranian negotiators arrived in Doha for another round of talks aimed at ending months of conflict in the Middle East.

Oil markets reacted sharply to the developments, as tensions around the Strait of Hormuz continue to affect global energy supplies.

US President Donald Trump later said Iran should hand over its enriched uranium to the United States or destroy it under international supervision.

Trump also called on several Middle Eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan and Egypt, to join the Abraham Accords as part of broader regional peace efforts.

Meanwhile, Iranian officials said progress had been made in negotiations but warned that a final agreement had not yet been reached.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also vowed to intensify military operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon, adding further pressure to ongoing diplomatic efforts in the region.
