New BCL president aims to decentralize duties

Bangladesh Chhatra League's (BCL) newly elected President Saddam Hossain said that he will work for decentralizing the duties of the student front.

He said that a participatory leadership model along with decentralization of the responsibilities will make the organization’s work more vibrant.

He revealed his plans for the ruling party’s student front after an event held at Dhaka University on Wednesday.

He also said that a conference is the only solution to avoid complaints regarding the elections held for selecting the next leaders.

“If there is a conference in an organizational unit, we can understand the situation at field level. There will be an opportunity to check how workers are accepting them, and how their organizational skills are,” he added.

On Tuesday, Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader announced the name of Saddam Hossain as the new president of Dhaka to lead the central committee of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).

Previously, Saddam was the assistant general secretary of the Dhaka University Central Students' Union.
