A fire broke out at the residence of popular singer Bappa Mazumder on Thursday morning, May 22, in Banani, Dhaka.
Bappa reported that the fire originated on the ground floor of the building. After receiving an intercom call, he attempted to leave the apartment but was met with heavy smoke that made visibility almost impossible.
He panicked as the heat from the fire reached his face and stood on the balcony with his family for a while, unsure of what to do.
In that critical moment, he managed to contact lyricist Shahan Kabandh, who lives nearby. With his help, Bappa safely evacuated the apartment with his actress wife, Tania Hossain, and their two daughters.
In a social media post, Bappa wrote, “We narrowly escaped a fire in our building. Thankfully, we’re all safe.
Immense gratitude to Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence — had they not responded quickly, I can’t imagine what might have happened. It was a terrifying experience that still feels unreal.”
