Former secretary Abu Alam Mohammad Shahid Khan arrested in Dhaka

The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested former secretary Abu Alam Mohammad Shahid Khan in connection with a case filed at Shahbagh Police Station.

Confirming the matter to the media around 12:30 pm on Monday, DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Mohammad Talebur Rahman said Shahid Khan was detained in the Eskaton area of the capital on Sunday night. He faces charges under a case filed with Shahbagh Police Station.

Alongside Khan, DB police also arrested five individuals accused of taking part in flash processions organized by the Awami League. According to police, raids were conducted in different parts of the city to make the arrests.

The Shahbagh case accuses the arrestees of engaging in anti-state activities, conspiring to disrupt public order, and participating in unlawful gatherings. Investigators said they have also recovered materials linked to incitement and planning of subversive activities.

Preliminary police findings suggest that a cultural platform named “Moncho-71” has connections to the alleged conspiracy. The platform has already come under DB surveillance.
