With a view to facilitating the movement of Muslim devotees of the Biswa Ijtema, Bangladesh Railway (BR) has made an arrangement to operate 10 special trains in different routes of the country.
A press release signed by Kamal Akhtar Hossain, ACOPSP Chief Operating Superintendent of Bangladesh Railway (Eastern Zone) revealed the information on Tuesday.
The first phase of three-day Ijtema, with the participation of lakhs of Muslims across the nation, will begin on Friday (January 13) on the bank of the River Turag in Tongi, on the outskirts of the capital.
According to a BR press release, Juma special trains will be operated on Dhaka-Tongi and Tongi-Dhaka routes on Friday of the first phase Ijtema and also Friday of the second phase. This train will leave Dhaka at 10:20 am and will reach Tongi at 11:20 am. The train will leave Tongi at 2:50 pm and will reach Dhaka at 3:50 pm.
From the start of the first phase of Ijtema to the last prayer of the second phase, the train service will be running to various destinations.
Besides, special train will ply from Jamalpur to Tongi on January 14 and January 21. The train will leave for Tongi from Jamalpur at 9:15 am and will arrive at 2:15 pm.
To ensure safe travel of devotees and to maintain overall law and order situation on the occasion of Bishwa Ijtema, necessary number of forces including GRP, RNB officers will be deployed at Tongi, Dhaka Airport, Tejgaon, Kamalapur and Tongi Railway Station.
