Seventy-eight Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinees arrested in connection with the ongoing violence surrounding the quota reform movement in government jobs have been granted bail.
Among them, 55 students were from Dhaka Division, 14 from Chittagong Division, six from Khulna Division and three from Rangpur Division.
An official of the law ministry confimred the developments that took place on Friday.
In another development, two students arrested over the violence during the quota reform protests have been allowed to take the HSC exam in Satkhira jail.
Earlier on August 1, the home ministry in a press release said that the state would provide legal assistance if any HSC examinee found to be arrested over the violence. It had asked the arrestees to file for bail their admit cards or other concerned documents.
