Advisory council approves proposal to close 3 land ports

The country’s Advisory Council has approved a proposal to officially close three land ports and suspend operational activities at another.

The decision was made during the 40th meeting of the Advisory Council on Thursday (28 August) at the Chief Advisor’s office in Tejgaon, according to the Cabinet Division. The meeting was chaired by Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

Under the Ministry of Shipping, the three land ports scheduled for closure are Chilahati Land Port in Domar Upazila, Nilphamari; Daulatganj Land Port in Chuadanga; and Tegamukh Land Port in Rangamati.

In addition, the proposal to suspend operational activities at Balla Land Port in Chunarughat Upazila, Habiganj district of the Sylhet division, was also approved.

The move is part of ongoing administrative measures to streamline the country’s land port operations.
