In a significant update for Bangladeshis wishing to travel to Australia, the visa application process will now be handled through the Australian High Commission in Dhaka, rather than Delhi.
This change was shared by Australian Home Minister Tony Burke in a phone call with Bangladesh`s Home Affairs Advisor, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.
The Advisor informed the Advisory Council about the development during a meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office on Thursday, March 20.
"This decision will be effective immediately," Jahangir Alam Chowdhury confirmed during the meeting.
Previously, Australian visas for Bangladeshi citizens had been processed in Delhi. However, during a visit to Bangladesh last October, Minister Tony Burke received a request from Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus to move the visa processing to Dhaka.
