The father and brother of former superintendent of police Babul Akhter have been granted by a Chittagong court in a case filed by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) under the Digital Security Act.
Chattogram Cyber Tribunal Judge Zahirul Kabir passed the order on Babul's father Md Abdul Wadud Mia and brother Md Habibur Rahman Labu after the duo surrendered before the court on Tuesday.
On October 17, Naima Sultana, superintendent of Chattogram Police and in-charge of Chattogram PBI filed the case against them under the Digital Security Act and the Special Powers Act.
Earlier on Monday, a Dhaka tribunal granted bail to Wadud and Habibur after their surrender before it in the case.
Meanwhile, the court also fixed January 12 for submitting the investigation report in the case.
Earlier on September 27, PBI Chief Banaj Kumar Majumdar filed the case accusing four people including Babul Akhter on charge for making ongoing investigation on Mitu murder questionable, spreading false information and throwing abusive words.
Mitu was stabbed and shot to death on June 5, 2016 when she was walking her son to his school bus at the GEC crossing in Chattogram city.
