BGC Trust University has suspended a second-year law student, Shuvo Kanti Das, following allegations of his involvement in the murder of a lawyer during a clash in Chittagong.
The suspension was announced in an official notice issued by the university’s acting registrar, Dr. S M Shoeb, on Wednesday afternoon. The decision came after an academic council meeting earlier that day.
According to Deputy Registrar Salauddin Shahriar, the university’s law department submitted a written appeal for Das`s expulsion, citing his alleged role in the fatal altercation that led to the lawyer’s death. The academic council reviewed the case and recommended his suspension, which was later approved in the meeting.
The university’s swift action follows growing concerns over the student`s alleged connection to the violent incident.
