The Bishwa Ijtema, a significant gathering of Muslims from around the world, is set to take place in two phases next year.

Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury made the announcement today, stating that the first phase will run from January 31 to February 2, while the second phase will be held from February 7 to February 9.

This announcement came after a meeting with representatives of the Tabligh Jamaat, a group known for its focus on spreading Islamic teachings.

The meeting took place at the secretariat, where Jahangir discussed important security arrangements for the Ijtema.

A notification from the ministry revealed that the adviser had planned to meet with both factions of the Tabligh Jamaat, led by Muhammad Saad Kandhalvi and Maulana Zubair Hassan.

However, only Saad’s group was able to attend.

When asked about Zubair‍‍`s absence, Jahangir explained that many prominent Islamic scholars were traveling abroad and couldn‍‍`t make it to the meeting.

He emphasized that the government is working to bring both factions together and is already in talks with religious scholars to facilitate this unification.

As for which group will host the first phase of the Ijtema, Jahangir noted that a decision will be made in a future meeting, and the details will be shared later.

He highlighted the importance of improving the organization of the congregation and stressed the need for unity between the two factions of the Tabligh Jamaat.

The Bishwa Ijtema is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, attracting millions of participants each year. It serves as an opportunity for Muslims to come together, share their faith, and strengthen their community ties.

As the event approaches, preparations for security and logistics will be crucial to ensure a smooth and successful gathering.
