Opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Saturday announced to hold rallies in Dhaka and all the divisional cities for Monday demanding advanced medical treatment of the party chairperson Khaleda Zia in an advanced medical centre abroad.
The party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir declared the protest programme while ending the party’s mass hunger strike programme in front of the party central office at Naya Paltan in Dhaka Saturday afternoon.
The BNP leader said that they would hold the rally in Dhaka in front of the National Press Club on Monday.
He warned to announce tougher agitation programmes if Khaleda was not ‘freed’ and allowed to take treatment abroad by the time.
Earlier, as part of a countrywide programme, leaders, and activists of the party and its associate bodies performed a hunger strike from 9 am to 4 pm in front of BNP’s central office in Nayapaltan.
BNP Publicity Secretary Shaheed Uddin Chowdhury Annie, standing committee members Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Mirza Abbas, Dr Abdul Moin Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, senior joint general secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and others joined the hunger strike program.
