A bulletproof car has been positioned at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka in preparation for the arrival of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, who is returning to the country after 17 years.
The Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying him, BG-202, is scheduled to land at the airport at around 11:45am on Thursday.
Airport sources said the bulletproof car arrived at the airport shortly before 7:00am and will be used for his movement from the airport to different programmes.
Tarique Rahman reached London’s Heathrow Airport on Wednesday night at about 10:15pm (Bangladesh time). Leaders and activists of the UK unit of BNP were present with him and accompanied him up to the airport’s security area to see him off.
After completing check-in and other formalities, he boarded the flight, which departed for Dhaka at around 12:15am. He is travelling with his wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman, and their daughter, Barrister Zaima Rahman.
