Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a letter congratulating the Md. Sahabuddin, the 22nd new president of Bangladesh on receiving the presidency today.
In the letter, he mentioned that China and Bangladesh are traditionally friendly neighbors. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, these two neighboring countries have respected each other. They have also supported each other in matters of mutual interest, including treating each other as equals, setting an example of friendly coexistence and cooperation between countries.
He is ready to work with Md. Shahabuddin, newly appointed President to build a joint and high-quality 'Belt and Road Initiative' to advance the traditional friendship of the two countries.

Md. Shahabuddin took oath as the 22nd president of the country today. National Assembly Speaker, Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury administered the oath to the newly elected President at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban at 11:00 am. After signing the oath, Shahabuddin officially sat in the President's chair at Bangabhaban.
