A total of 470 people were admitted to hospitals across Bangladesh with dengue in the past 24 hours, though no new deaths were reported during this period.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 118 people have died of dengue so far this year, while 29,514 patients have been hospitalized.
In August alone, 8,534 patients have been admitted to hospitals, and 35 deaths have been recorded. Currently, 1,416 dengue patients are receiving treatment in hospitals nationwide—478 in Dhaka and 938 in divisions outside the capital.
DGHS data shows that in January there were 1,161 hospital admissions with 10 deaths, followed by 374 admissions and 3 deaths in February.
In March, 336 patients were hospitalized with no fatalities, while April recorded 701 admissions and 7 deaths.
The number rose in May with 1,773 admissions and 3 deaths, and further spiked in June with 5,951 admissions and 19 deaths. July saw the highest figures so far this year, with 10,684 hospitalizations and 41 deaths.
Health officials continue to monitor the situation as dengue cases rise in different parts of the country.
