The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced that it will begin taking action against foreign nationals who are illegally residing in Bangladesh after January 31.
A warning notice was issued on Tuesday, alerting the public about the new measures.
According to the notice, foreign nationals who fail to obtain the necessary documents to legalize their stay or work by January 31 will face action under "The Foreigners Act–1946."
The notice further explained, "For public awareness, it is hereby announced that several foreign nationals are staying or working illegally in Bangladesh. In this context, foreign nationals who are residing or working in Bangladesh illegally and fail to obtain the necessary documents to legalize their stay or employment by January 31, as per the earlier issued warning, will be dealt with under `The Foreigners Act–1946.`"
This warning follows an earlier notice issued on December 24, which gave illegal foreign nationals a deadline of January 31 to legalize their status in the country.
