Junaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister for Post, Telecommunication, and Information Technology announced that a decision on resuming mobile data services will be made on Sunday (July 28) following a meeting with mobile operators.
He shared this information while addressing the program `Tree for Peace` at Dak Bhaban, Agargaon, on Saturday (July 27) where he was the Chief Guest.
The program, held in honor of Sajeeb Wazed Joy’s 54th birthday, aimed to plant one lakh trees across the country.
Palak stated, "There is a meeting with mobile operators on Sunday at 9am. A decision regarding the launching of mobile data will be made after this meeting."
He expressed hope that the 4G mobile network will return to normal by Sunday or Monday (July 28-29).
In a Facebook post on Saturday, Palak urged caution in the use of the internet and social media, emphasizing the government’s commitment to the welfare of expatriates.
He said, "Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina`s pro-people government is always working for the welfare of expatriates. We all need to be aware and cautious when using the internet and social media."
The disruption in internet services began after violence during the quota reform movement led to a fire in the broadband optical fiber at the Khawaja Tower data center in Mohakhali, according to government`s claim.
Broadband services were experimentally resumed on the night of July 23, initially prioritizing banks, financial institutions, and government offices.
