Nasir Uddin Sathi, chairman of private television channel My TV, has been placed on a five-day remand in connection with a murder case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ziauddin Ahmed passed the order on Monday (August 18) after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) produced him before the court.

CID Inspector Khan Md Erfan, the investigation officer of the case, sought a seven-day remand, but the court granted five.

Nasir was detained in Dhaka’s Gulshan area on Sunday and later shown arrested in the case before being sent to court.

According to case details, on August 5 last year, during the July movement protests, Asadul Haque Babu joined a demonstration on a road in Jatrabari.
