The Election Commission (EC) will begin hearings on objections to the redemarcation of parliamentary constituencies on August 24, ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election. The hearings will continue until August 27, according to EC sources.
On August 24, hearings for the Cumilla region will be held. From 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm, objections regarding Brahmanbaria-2, 3, and 5 will be heard, followed by Cumilla-6, 9, 10, and 11 from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Later, from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm, hearings will cover Noakhali-1, 2, 4, and 5; Chandpur-2 and 3; Feni-3; and Lakshmipur-2 and 3.
On August 25, hearings for the Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram regions are scheduled. From 10:00 am to 12:30 pm, hearings will address Satkhira-3, 4; Jashore-3, 6; and Bagerhat-1, 2, and 3. From 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm, hearings will cover Jhalakathi-1; Barguna-1, 2; Pirojpur-1, 2, 3; Chattogram-3, 5, 8, 19; Khagrachhari; Rangamati; and Bandarban.
On August 26, hearings will be held for the Dhaka region. From 10:00 am to 12:30 pm, objections regarding Manikganj-1, 2, 3; Narsingdi-4, 5; and Narayanganj-3, 4, 5 will be heard. From 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm, hearings will address Dhaka-1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 14, 15, 16, 18, and 19.
The final day, August 27, will cover the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Sylhet, and Faridpur regions. From 10:00 am to 12:30 pm, hearings will include Panchagarh-1, 2; Rangpur-1; Kurigram-4; Sirajganj-2, 5, 6; and Pabna-1. From 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm, hearings will focus on Tangail-6; Jamalpur-2; Kishoreganj-1; Sylhet-1; Faridpur-1, 4; Madaripur-2, 3; and Shariatpur-2, 3.
The EC had published a draft list of 39 redrawn constituencies on July 30 and invited objections or claims by August 10. A total of 1,760 applications were submitted across 83 constituencies. The commission will finalize the constituency boundaries after completing the hearings.
