Dr. Anisuzzaman Chowdhury has been appointed as the Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor of the interim government, holding the rank of State Minister. 

He will be responsible for overseeing the Ministry of Finance, a role he takes up in a significant step announced on March 10.

The appointment was officially confirmed in a gazette notification released on Monday, March 10th. 

According to the announcement, Dr. Chowdhury has been given the executive powers of the Ministry of Finance to support the Chief Advisor.

Dr. Chowdhury will also receive all the benefits, salary, and privileges that come with the position of a State Minister.

At present, Dr. Anisuzzaman Chowdhury is serving as a visiting professor at two prestigious institutions: the School of Social Sciences and Psychology at Western Sydney University, and the School of Business at the Australian Defence Force Academy, University of New South Wales.

Dr. Chowdhury has an extensive international background. He worked for the United Nations in senior roles in both New York and Bangkok from 2008 to 2016. 

He also taught economics at Western Sydney University between 2001 and 2012, and held teaching positions at the University of Manitoba (Canada), National University of Singapore, and the University of New England (Australia).

Apart from his academic career, Dr. Chowdhury was the founding managing editor of the Journal of the Asia Pacific Economy from 1995 to 2008, and continues to contribute as an associate editor on its editorial board. 

He is also involved in the editorial board of the Economic and Labour Relations Review.

Over the years, he has conducted significant research on economic issues in East and Southeast Asia, focusing on macro-development. 

His academic journey has seen him earn his PhD and MA degrees from the University of Manitoba, Canada, as well as completing his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Jahangirnagar University in Bangladesh.

This new role marks a key moment in Dr. Chowdhury‍‍`s distinguished career, as he takes on an influential position within the country‍‍`s economic framework.
