National emergency service 999 has been temporarily suspended due to the terrible fire in Bangabazar, police headquarters said. Therefore, in case of emergency, it is requested to contact the local police station or fire station.

A fire broke out at Bangabazar Market at 6:10 am. More than half a hundred fire service units are working to bring the fire under control. Two-storied tin shed market in Bangabazar has become a complete ruin. The flames are still blazing in between.
All units in Dhaka including Baridhara, Badda, Rampura, Gulshan zone have joined. Several fire service units have also joined from Gazipur and Narayanganj. A total of 50 units are working to control the fire; However, it is still difficult to bring the situation under control. Initially, the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage was not known.
However, fire service officials say that they are trying to control the fire as much as possible. Due to this, vehicles has been stopped on the surrounding roads. Fire service is taking water from the pond of Dhaka University (DU) hall. Even so, water is being brought from Hatirjheel by helicopter because of the crisis. Fire service members have to speed up to put out the fire due to extra people crowding there.
