Reward offered for info on lost or stolen govt weapons: Home adviser

Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Home Affairs Adviser, announced that rewards will be given to anyone who provides information leading to the recovery of lost or stolen weapons belonging to law enforcement agencies.

He made the announcement on Sunday (August 10) after a core committee meeting on law and order held at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

“We have initiated efforts to recover our missing firearms. A prize has been declared, and we will soon finalize and announce the exact reward amount through the media. Anyone who provides credible information will receive a reward,” said the adviser.

Regarding the murder of journalist Tuhin in Gazipur, he expressed concern over the increasing intolerance in society.

“As a nation, we have become very impatient. In the past, people would intervene to stop wrongdoing, but nowadays, people just record videos instead. Preventing crime is a moral responsibility, but no one is acting on it. Law enforcement cannot be everywhere all the time. The Gazipur incident is very tragic and unimaginable. Most of those involved have been brought under the law, but the lost life cannot be compensated. If we all practice patience, such incidents may reduce,” he added.
