The Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JAKSU) election will be held on September 11, along with elections for student unions in 21 residential halls, the university announced Sunday.
The schedule was declared at 3:30 pm in the university’s senate hall by JAKSU Election Commission Member Secretary and Proctor Prof. AKM Rashidul Alam.
According to the timetable, the draft voter list and draft code of conduct will be published on August 10, with final versions released on August 17.
Nomination papers can be collected and submitted on August 18 and 19 from 9 am to 4 pm
The preliminary list of candidates will be published on August 25 after scrutiny. Appeals regarding nomination validity will be heard on August 27, with verdicts announced the same day.
The deadline for withdrawal is August 28, and the final candidate list will be released on August 29.
Campaigning will run from August 29 at 4 pm until midnight on September 9. Voting will take place from 9 am to 5 pm on September 11, followed by counting from 7 pm Results will be updated every two hours.
Prof. Rashidul Alam said police, army, and Border Guard Bangladesh personnel will assist in ensuring a fair election. Expired students residing in halls will be required to vacate before the polls.
