Court summons plaintiff for presence in lawyer Alif murder case hearing

The court has issued a summons for the personal presence of the plaintiff in the hearing on the acceptance of the charge sheet in the murder case of Chattogram lawyer Saiful Islam Alif. The hearing is scheduled for August 25 with the plaintiff in attendance.

This order was given on Sunday by Judge S.M. Alauddin of the Sixth Court of the Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court.

During the hearing, the plaintiff’s lawyer and Assistant Public Prosecutor Md. Raihanul Wazed Chowdhury stated that due to age-related illness, the plaintiff—who is also the father of the deceased—was unable to attend the court earlier.

Consequently, the court issued a summons for his presence and set August 25 for the hearing with the plaintiff present.

According to the charge sheet submitted by the investigating officer, a total of 42 accused were named in the case. Among them, the investigator recommended acquittal for three individuals named in the charge sheet and one identified during the investigation.

Currently, 20 accused, including Chinmoy Krishna Das—the spokesperson of the Combined Sanatan Jagaran Jote and principal of Pundrik Dham—are in custody, while 18 remain absconding.
