The Election Commission (EC) has announced that the total number of registered voters in Bangladesh currently stands at 126,170,900 after adding new voters and removing duplicates from the voter list.
Senior Secretary of the Election Commission, Akhtar Ahmed, shared this information with reporters on Sunday (August 10) at the Election Commission office in Agargaon, Dhaka.
He stated that as of March 2 this year, the voter count was 123,732,274. Subsequently, door-to-door data collection was conducted to reinstate omitted voters.
During this update process, 4,571,216 new voters were added, while 2,132,590 names were removed from the list. As a result, the supplementary voter list as of June 30 totals 126,170,900 voters nationwide.
Akhtar Ahmed also noted that the draft supplementary list was published today at EC offices. Voters can report any corrections, which will be finalized by August 31.
Additionally, another updated list including individuals turning 18 by October 31 will be released later this year, meaning Bangladesh will have three voter lists in 2025.
According to EC data, the voter inclusion rate this year is 3.69%, with an overall voter growth rate of 1.97%.
