After the Eid holiday, the coalition of government employees known as the ‘Government Officers and Employees Unity Council’ has resumed their protest at the Secretariat.
On Monday (June 16), protesters gathered around 11 a.m. at Badamtola in the Secretariat area. They then marched to and staged a sit-in in front of the new Cabinet building.
The protest was led under the banner of the Government Officers and Employees Unity Council by its joint council leader Nurul Islam.
Badiul Kabir, another leader of the council, informed that as per the previously announced program, the protesters will submit a memorandum to the advisers of the Ministries of Home Affairs, Social Welfare, and Housing, demanding the repeal of the government service ordinance.
Following this, the protesters plan to announce their next course of action.
