Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Mahfuj Alam today said the interim government is committed to bringing all the cohorts of the ousted fascist government to justice.
“The interim government has a clear stance on bringing all the cohorts of the fascist, who were involved in offenses, to justice,” he told a press briefing at Foreign Service Academy here tonight.
Mahfuj said the government has been in power only two months, and within that brief time, it has given priority to reform work and maintaining the law and order situation in the country.
“At the same time, many of those who were the cohorts of the fascists and involved in mass killings were arrested. And they must be brought to justice. This is our clear stance,” he added.
Responding to a question, the special assistant said the government is working to check the price hike of essential commodities by severing businessmen`s syndicates.
Speaking at the press briefing, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said the six reform commissions, formed by the government, will submit their reports to the government in consultation with stakeholders concerned.
He said the government would then reach a consensus by discussing it with the political parties and announcing a roadmap for the general elections.
At the same time, Alam said, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus mentioned that the election preparatory work would continue.
He said the chief adviser also hinted that more reform commissions would be formed based on the recommendations of the political parties.
