Gulistan blast: One more killed, death toll rises to 23

Mirza Azam (36), who suffered burns in the blast in a seven-story building in the capital's Gulistan, died while undergoing treatment. Total 23 people died in the explosion.

He died at 10.30 am on Saturday while undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Center (ICU) of the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

The coordinator of the institute. Samantlal Sen confirmed the matter to the media. He said that today (Saturday) Mirza Azam died around 9 am. He also said that 80 parts of his body were burnt.

The deceased's uncle Babul Akhter told the media that Mirza Azam used to work in an organization called "Bangladesh Senatory" in Siddikbazar. He was in the shop at the time of the incident. After the explosion, he was admitted to the burn institute after suffering burns.

He also said that Mirza Azam was the son of Shajahan Mia of Baga area of Patuakhali. Lived in a house in Moghbazar Madhubagh area with his wife Mim and a son. His wife is one and a half months pregnant.
