Unidentified miscreants attacked a 'chander gari' – a 'jeep' that carries passengers on hilly roads–on the Bandarban-Chandraghona-Rangamati highway on Saturday afternoon, leaving five passengers injured.
Confirming the matter to TheReport.live Bandarban Kotwali police station officer-in-charge Shahidul Islam Chowdhury said, the vehicle was carrying 17-19 teenagers from Baga Lage of Ruma to Rajasthali of Rangamati via Bandarban sadar upazila.
On the way, the 'chander gari' overturned when miscreants shot at its tyres to stop it. At least four passengers, all female, were injured in the incident.
Armed cadres of the Chittagong Hill Tract-based political group Jana Samhati Samiti (JSS) might have led the attack to create unrest, law enforcement officials told journalists at 9:45pm on Saturday.
